We have a great pleasure to invite everyone interested in application of mass spectrometric techniques to the 6th Conference of Polish Mass Spectrometry Society, which will take place on April 22-26, 2018 in Miedzeszyn, one of the outskirt districts of Warsaw. The conference is organized by the Institute of Organic Chemistry PAS together with Polish Mass Spectrometry Society and the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS. During the Conference we would like to discuss all topics in the field of mass spectrometry. The interdisciplinary nature of the conference presents a unique opportunity for the exchange of information and promotes both collaborative and personal relationships amongst its participants. It provides first-hand opportunities to report advancements and innovations in a highly critical and stimulating environment. The conference emphasizes the educational mission and commitment to nurture our students and young professional scientists interested in mass spectrometry. Through opportunities to present research and interact with established scientists, the conference enables the development of new generations of scientists that will share in the mission of our Society and contribute to the advancement of mass spectrometry.

Scientific program of the conference will include plenary lectures, oral communications and posters. It will reflect the latest achievements in fundamental and applied mass spectrometry. Lectures, oral communications and posters during the Conference will be in English.

List of invited speakers and tentative titles of their lectures:

Magda Claeys – University of Antwerp, Belgium “Structural characterization of high-molecular weight dimers in alpha-pinene ozonolysis secondary organic aerosol using mass spectrometric approaches”.

Michal Dadlez – Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics PAS, Warsaw, Poland "MS-based methods in protein structure studies - selected applications".

Anna Drabik – AGH Universiy of Science and Technology, Krakow, Poland "Aptamers in cancer research".

Dietmar Kuck – Bielefeld University, Germany "Fragmentation of molecular ions under ever-varying reaction conditions: A selection of telling examples from organic mass spectrometry".

Tomasz Ligor – Centre for Modern Interdisciplinary Technologies, Nicolaus Copernicus University, Torun, Poland “Determination of potential biomarkers in biological matrices by hyphenated separation techniques”.

Katarzyna Pawlak – Warsaw University of Technology, Poland “Semi-targeted metabolomic studies of macrophages response to methamphetamine - traps and challenges”.

Maciej Stobiecki – Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry PAS, Poznan, Poland "Application of mass spectrometric techniques for structural characterization of natural products present in complex samples from biological material".

Piotr Stefanowicz – University of Wrocław, "Modification of peptides with  pyrylium salts for sensitive detection and isotopic labeling".

Einar Uggerud – University of Oslo, Norway “Making water electric, bending CO2, and cleaning air”.

Magdalena Zimnicka – Institute of Organic Chemistry PAS, Warsaw, Poland "Contribution of Mass Spectrometry-Based Techniques to Molecular Recognition".

We expect about 100 participants from both academic, industrial, and government research institutions. They will have an opportunity to meet representatives of leading manufacturers of mass spectrometry and chromatographic equipment who will exhibit their products during the conference.

Just before the Conference (from Sunday afternoon April. 22nd till Monday noon April 23rd) there will be a workshop on the practical applications of mass spectrometry to peptides. See the Workshops website for details.
