Job Opening for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE, USA

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available immediately in the laboratory of Prof. Pawel Ciborowski, Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience at University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Research in the Ciborowski laboratory is focused on systems biology approach to study macrophage response to HIV-1 infection with concurrent exposure to illicit drugs. A unifying theme is the development and application of mass spectrometry to answer questions of biological importance for human health. This includes metabolomics, proteomics, bioinformatics. We are looking for a person that can take the lead on projects, has a broad base of training, and is an excellent problem solver. Research is currently funded by R01 award from NIH/NIDA.

The successful applicant must be a highly motivated Ph.D. with background in chemistry, biochemistry or related discipline and with experience in analytical chemistry/biochemistry, protein chemistry, proteomic technologies, mass spectrometry, micro-scale separation. Familiarity with bioinformatics analyses is a plus. The successful candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary research laboratory, helping innovate resources associated with mass spectrometry based qualitative and quantitative proteomic and metabolomics analyses. Work will be conducted in the context of characterizing protein and proteoform-level alterations. Duties include development of laboratory experiments, development of new methods based on mass spectrometry, collection and analysis of data, interpretation of results, formulation of conclusions, preparation of manuscripts and publication in high quality peer reviewed journals.
